Body Art Tattoos and Piercings
There’s no doubt about it, tattoo art, body piercing and body expression are all increasingly popular these days. What was once considered a fringy subculture has now become a popular, integral part of our culture. Needless to say, this has caused many a headache for many parents and families! But, the fact is, that the tattoo, body art and piercing craze seems to be here to stay. One theory for this surge in popularity centers on the airing of reality shows based in tattoo parlors.
Whatever the reason for this upswing in popularity, the fact is that tattoos and tattoo art are incredibly popular. And that popularity continues to rise. In fact, a Harris Poll conducted in 2015 had some interesting results. The poll showed that 36% of Gen Xers and 47% of Millennials have at least one tattoo. In fact, in America, at least 14% of the entire population has at least one tattoo.
So, if you’re interested in getting a tattoo in the United States, you won’t have any trouble figuring out where to go. With 21,000 tattoo parlors in the country, you will probably find one without having to look very hard!
What may be more of a decision is choosing your design. Some of the most popular designs are flowers, particularly roses, skulls, butterflies. Also names, religious symbols and star images are also very requested.
Pricing ranges from about $45 for a smaller tattoo to a charge of $150 an hour for a more extensive image. Sometimes, as about 5% of the population reports, one tattoo is covered up with another, different one over it.
Along with the incredible resurgence in popularity of artistic body expression, there has been a rise in body piercing. Naturally, the ears are the most familiar body part associated with piercing. However, many Americans get other body parts pierced, too. About 14%, in fact, reported in 2015 that they had non-earlobe body piercings.
Piercing is an art with many forms. One of the most interesting is Daith piercings. Daith piercing is a process which pierces the inner ear. This type of piercing is very well known because it is reported to ease headache pain–in particular, the pain of a migraine headache.
Millions of people in the United States suffer from migraine headache pain; about 37 million are reported. Some are chronic sufferers, some occasional…but all are searching for migraine headache relief. The Daith piercing process, according to a survey conducted by MigrainePal, had great results. 50% said their migraine pain was less severe and 47% said that their migraines occurred less often.
Tattoos and body piercings have been part of human culture for centuries. In a world where we are constantly striving to express ourselves with more and more individuality, it is completely beyond any question tha tattoos and body piercings are an integral form of personal self-expression.
