While people of all ages may go shopping, some may enjoy the experience more than others. A recent survey revealed that approximately 58% of the Millennial-aged participants stated that they “loved to shop.” When compared with adults in general, just 40% said that they felt this way about shopping. Millennials also tend to spend more money on their clothing than older adults. The survey found that when compared with adults between the ages of 35 to 44, Millennials spent eight percent more overall.
Many shoppers like to purchase their clothes, shoes, and fashion accessories online rather than in a traditional store, however. This appears to be true for shoppers throughout the world, as PwC’s 2017 Total Retail Survey showed that 40% of global shoppers prefer to purchase these and other items online. It’s not surprising that this is becoming the preferred way to shop. Since people are able to “go shopping” any time of day or night, it’s a convenient option for those with busy schedules. Furthermore, when people shop online, they don’t have to deal with traffic, parking, or other inconveniences.
it’s interesting to note that the United States’ apparel market is actually the largest in the world. In 2015, this market was valued at about $359 billion. Handbag sales, which includes designer handbags, reached $11.5 billion in sales within the same year. Given the popularity and ease of the online shopping experience, it’s been predicted that e-commerce revenues are going to increase significantly in the United States. By 2021, online apparel and accessory sales are projected to reach $116.3 billion.
Both men and women now own more clothes than they did in previous decades. In 1930, for example, the average woman in the United States had nine outfits. Currently, the average woman has an outfit for every day of the month. This amounts to around 30 outfits. While clothing trends and seasonal attire may have changed throughout the years, many women appreciate items from the proverbial yesteryear, such as vintage handbags.
A study was recently conducted by the NPD Group and Stylitics. The results showed that women between the ages of 18 and 45 own quite a few handbags. In addition to owning handbags from seven different brands, such as designer handbags, they own an average of 13 each. Since there are so many wonderful designer handbags coming out on the market, there’s a good chance that some women have handbags from more than seven designers.
Whether or not people love to shop, they continue to do so both online and off. Just one of the many reasons for this is because they want to make a positive first impression. According to psychology studies, an individual forms their first impression of someone else within the first seven to 17 seconds of meeting them. It may not be surprising to learn that 55% of these impressions are based on appearance. After making a positive first impression, it goes without saying that most people want that good opinion to continue.
One of the most effective ways to create and maintain a positive impression is to know what to wear and when to wear it. This of course ranges from knowing when those skinny jeans and snakeskin handbags are appropriate as well as what to wear for the holidays. Whether you prefer online shopping or it’s just more convenient, there are so many designer outfits and accessories from which to choose. There’s also quite a bit of helpful information available at online stores to assist you with creating just the right look for any occasion.
